The trip
Well, I can’t believe how “lucky” I’m. First of all, a bit about my job: I work as a flight attendant (oh dear, it is not so glamorous as it sounds, trust me) for Irish company (I bet you already guessed with one and cursing it for bag charges, credit card charges and so on) but I love my job, none of the day is the same as yesterday (always have different type of passengers veiling and complaining), my work colleagues are young international people who always make your day (it different ways: sometimes some of them just wind me up, some of them make my laugh until you start crying, some of them you can always reply on). I guess all of you have seen the news and somehow was included in continuous drama. I got stuck in Germany. The fact is that the hotel was in the town of 1000 people and had three streets which you can walk down in one minute each. Few shopping centers (at least we got some lovely local rose in one of them), ice cream shop (we spent our Sunday noon indulging and tanning in one of the patios), few dinners (Chinese buffet was yummy and I believe went busted after so many people “6 of us” used it, well apparently there are none people there all the time), number of boutiques (imagine 40-50 year old shopping heaven) and the church in the middle (the clock had never stopped and made some of the crew awake half of the night). Sounds like a perfect getaway but I forgot to mention that I had to attend my best friend’s birthday dinner that night and also leaving party of my friend. In addition to that, we didn’t have any clothes on us (we weren’t naked you creepy people, we just had uniform and had to wear it till next day) and had to do shopping (I’m not complaining about this bit at all, I loved it but who doesn’t when we talk about labels, new collections and just the idea of buying). Day trip to Luxembourg and more shopping, dinners in the restaurant, 4 star hotel with individual room – this was my “holidays” which were the result of volcano activity in Iceland. After four nights in sunny Germany (the weather was amazing and some of us got tanned) we decided enough is enough (girls were crying for strengtheners, boys were upset about not seeing Arsenal game and all of us missing our own beds/beloved ones/pets etc) and had a road trip back to UK. An hour by van to Luxembourg (our driver Vladimir from Russia, thanks to him we made it on time), three hours by train to Brussels (I was sleeping most of the way after getting two seats) and under two hours of Eurostar (I was mistaken with model Stone which is flattering), we don’t need to forget 300 pounds poorer we made it back to London. I thought I never say it but I missed miserable gray London and wouldn’t imagine living somewhere else (well for now). It is nice to go on holidays, enjoy sunny days laying in the beach, getting the tan, indulging with local food and wino but at the end, it is good to be back home.
